In Hungarian on the winter university

The XI. Hungarian Language and Culture Winter Universityin Pécs  introduced itself to the foreign students with foggy, cold mornings, but said with sunny, warm days good bye to them.

I was very glad to teach on the two week long intensive Hungarian course of the ISC (International Study Centre) of the Medical School in Pécs. Numerous nationalities undertook to deepen their knowledge in Hungarian language during the two weeks from the 23th of January till the 6th of February, for example Japanese, Finnish, German Austrian people, but also a Greek, a Dutch, a Portuguese or an Esthonian student. Most of them are staying in Hungary for studying here, or studied already before this course in the country. I was happy that I could teach also students in advanced level, with them we could also discusse  some fine cases of the Hungarian language.

I hope that the students have some nice memories about the lessons and about the programmes in the afternoon, such like the sigthseeings with lot of exercises, the concert in the new concert hall, the trip to Siklós and Villány (wine tasting included – of course) or the international kitchen in the last evening, where we could taste lot of different national dishes. I also hope that you can still sing some of the songs we learned together in the lessons, like “Felhős” from Makám, “Elmentem a piacra” from Szalóki Ági, the famous song “Ha én rózsa volnék”, or “Ha én szél lehetnék” from Omega, or the theme song of the film Csinibaba. I wish you lot of happy singing hours in Hungarian!

And here are some pictures about the wine tasting and about the international kitchen (made by Gábor Lévai):
